Since we live in the desert we need to have the essential
survival kit prepared in case a catastrophic event takes place suddenly. I have
taken many desert survival courses and this list is the top 20 items that are
always suggested. I highly recommend everyone taking some sort of course for
your specific geographic location, just check with your nearest college campus
and they should have information regarding these classes. Some of these items
have multiple purposes such as the plastic bags while others are for conveniences
such as the toilet paper and toothbrush.

Have a camelback full with water

Water purification tablets-Can be used to purify
stagnant water
3)
Aluminum foil-can be used for food storage as
well as a signaling device
4)
Pocket knife
5)
Foldable space blanket
6)
Basic first aid kit
7)
Snake bite kit
8)
25 feet of fishing line with hooks
9)
2 cans of tuna fish
10)
Magnesium flint stone

Compass

Poncho or large plastic bag-either one will work
for a shaded waterproof structure as well as protection from the rain.

Sunscreen-A high SPF is important since the
desert sun can cause bad burns which if left untreated can become infected very
easily.

Toilet paper-Can be used for its intended
purpose or works as a great fire starter.

Several non-scented/non-flavored condoms-These are
great for water storage since they are durable and take up very little space.
Having survival kits I believe is very important we never know when catastrophe will hit
